SPECIES Chrysiridia Riphearia
FRAME 14.5x14.5xD5cm Made from recycled products.
DESCRIPTION Rainbow metallic colours on this beautiful day flying moth. Also known as the Sunset moth for obvious reasons. The colours on the Madagascan sunset moth's wings are produced by the conjunction of two optical phenomena namely optical interference and inter scale reflection. It is endemic to the Island of Madagascar where large migrations are seen in certain months. The bright metallic colours are a warning to predators of their toxicity.
Care of your framed insects
To ensure the longevity of your jewellery, we recommend that you treat each piece like a treasure.
Remove your jewellery before doing any activity that risks physical damage or in situations you may sweat. Do not shower or swim in your jewellery, as water can damage certain types of crystals (especially crystals that end in -ite). Never spray perfume or rub lotions directly onto the jewellery, as chemicals may react with the
plating and cause it to wear off. For this reason, we recommend you do not sleep in your jewellery pieces. Tarnishing is a natural process that may occur over time.
Use a jewellery cloth to remove body oils and soil. Be gentle when polishing the jewellery by wiping instead of scrubbing.
When your jewellery is not being worn, store in a safe, dry place to protect against excessive light, heat or moisture, as it will deteriorate the quality of the plating. Store your pieces separately to avoid damage.
Every crystal we source is handpicked and cleansed, ensuring the best energy for our customers. For inquiries about custom orders, wholesales, or other concerns, please reach out to us. For detailed shipping, discount, or pick-up information, and more, Read More.
